👩🏻‍💼 Business Thought

Last month we discussed the use of AI in your business. This month I would like to talk about something that has come up often with people in my life.. and that is lack of belief.

There was a time when I was teaching a group of students, and two of them were a mother daughter duo. The mother told me that her daughter loved pottery and really wanted to learn. She said she wanted to be a potter and an artist when she grew up, but then proceeded to say how thats not a real job though and that she needs to pick something that would make her successful in life. I was a bit stunned at first. I mean, I was standing right there, an artist and a potter, making a living for myself.

I saw the sadness in the daughters eyes as she looked up at me, and I smiled and said, “you can do or be anything you set your mind to.” I then looked at the mother and said, “just look at me! This is my full time job and I am incredibly fulfilled!”

The mother proceeded to quiz me on if I made enough money to live though. I told her I made enough money to pay my rent, pay for a modern car, all of my bills, have two pets, run a fully equipped pottery studio and still have money left for savings, fun and entertainment. She was shocked and the daughter looked excited. I didn’t have to answer those invasive questions, and I didn’t do it to brag. I did it to make a point.

You absolutely can do anything you put your mind to, no matter what point of life you’re at. Don’t let ANYONE tell you otherwise. The only person that can hold you back from your goals is yourself. As Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.” and I know you are more than capable. I believe in you, so start believing in yourself! ❤️
