👩🏻‍💼 Business Thought! 

Last month I talked about getting out into your community and networking with the public, an excellent way to spread the word about your business and products. This month I would like to talk about your branding.

Having a cohesive brand is an excellent way to attract eyes and for people to get a sense of your vision. Having a professional logo, consistent colour pallet and general theme to your social layouts and website are important ways to have your brand recognized.

You want people to instantly know they are looking at one of your products when they see it online or in person, so having some nice branding to catch their eye is a great way to get noticed.

I love working on this aspect of my business. It can be really fun designing logos or choosing complimentary colour schemes to make your brand pop! This is where you can get really creative and design your business in a way that represents you, your product and attracts the audience you’re reaching for!

These videos aren’t quite lessons, but they do show you the start to finish process of creating these pieces and all of the steps involved! They are both informative and satisfying to watch, so check them out!

🧽 Pottery Tools I Love!

When teaching my private students, most of them fall in love with a particular finishing tool I use in my lessons. It’s an excellent little trimmer for removing excess clay from the base of your pot while it is still on the wheel.

This tool saves you so much effort at the trimming stage by removing the bulk ahead of time while also letting you manipulate the shape of your pot after throwing. It stays nice and sharp and never seems to compress my walls or get caught up in my clay the way wood knives do!

Not only is this tool extremely useful, it is very affordable too! It comes in this nifty bundle with other finishing tools (which I rarely use to be honest) but is worth getting just to have this one specific shape.

You can watch me use it in all of my pottery videos on youtube. It is a favourite of mine and i’ll never grow tired of it!

And who knows, maybe you’ll love all of the other friends it comes with too!
